- Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
- Scripture Reading: Psalm 69:1 – 3, 15 – 16 (NIV)
Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.
I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me.
I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched.
My eyes fail, looking for my God.
Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.
Answer me, LORD, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me.
- Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
- Scripture Reading: John 21:17 – 19 (NIV)
The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
