Thursday (7/29/21) Week 8, Day 4

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Psalm 119:27 – 32 (NIV)

Cause me to understand the way of your precepts,

that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds.

My soul is weary with sorrow;

strengthen me according to your word.

Keep me from deceitful ways;

be gracious to me and teach me your law.

I have chosen the way of faithfulness;

I have set my heart on your laws.

I hold fast to your statutes, LORD;

do not let me be put to shame.

I run in the path of your commands,

for you have broadened my understanding.

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Psalm 139:1 – 6 (NIV)

You have searched me, Lord,

and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise;

you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;

you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue

you, Lord, know it completely.

You hem me in behind and before,

and you lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

too lofty for me to attain.

Wednesday (7/28/21) Week 8, Day 3

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:16 – 22 (NIV)

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Do not put out the Spirit’s fire; do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil. (NIV 1984)

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Psalm 27:3 – 4 (NIV)

Though an army besiege me,

my heart will not fear;

though war break out against me,

even then I will be confident.

One thing I ask from the LORD,

this only do I seek:

that I may dwell in the house of the LORD

all the days of my life,

to gaze on the beauty of the LORD

and to seek him in his temple.

Tuesday (7/27/21) Week 8, Day 2

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Acts 2:42 – 47 (NIV)

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Psalm 63:1 – 5 (NIV)

You, God, are my God,

earnestly I seek you;

I thirst for you,

my whole being longs for you,

in a dry and parched land

where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary

and beheld your power and your glory.

Because your love is better than life,

my lips will glorify you.

I will praise you as long as I live,

and in your name I will lift up my hands.

I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;

with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

Monday (7/26/21) Week 8, Day 1

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Daniel 1:3 – 5, 8 (NIV)

Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring into the king’s service some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility — young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king’s table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king’s service.

But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Psalm 73:12 – 17, 25 (NIV 1984)

This is what the wicked are like —

always carefree, they increase in wealth.

Surely in vain have I kept my heart pure;

in vain have I washed my hands in innocence.

All day long I have been plagued;

I have been punished every morning.

If I had said, “I will speak thus,”

I would have betrayed this generation to your children.

When I tried to understand all this,

it was oppressive to me

till I entered the sanctuary of God;

then I understood their final destiny.

Whom have I in heaven but you?

And being with you, I desire nothing on earth.

Friday (7/23/21) Week 7, Day 5

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Matthew 7:1 – 5 (NIV)

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Matthew 10:28, 34 – 36 (NIV)

“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn

‘a man against his father,

a daughter against her mother,

a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law —

a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’”
