Thursday 5/25

  • Read John 20: 19-31

How do you see the compassion and kindness of Jesus shine in these verses?

Twice Jesus offers them “peace” as He surprises them with His presence. Where do you need Jesus to say “peace” to you today?

Try to condense this chapter into one sentence on a separate piece of paper

Wednesday 5/24

  • Read John 20: 11-18

So Mary had gone back with the two men, they leave, but she remains in tears.

What can we glean about the faith of Mary from these verses?

What can we surmise about Jesus when He first reveals Himself to a lone woman?

Tuesday 5/23

  • Read John 20: 1-10

I love that a woman is the first to discover the missing body of Jesus. She comes so early in the morning that it is still dark. I picture her waiting and waiting for the end of the Sabbath so that she is free to run to the tomb.

The ‘other disciple’ who reaches the tomb first, “believes”. But then verse 9 goes on to tell us that they did not understand that Jesus had to rise from the dead. What do you think he ‘believed’?

In keeping with immersing ourselves in the narrative—what are these two men feeling and thinking in these moments?

Monday 5/22

Read John 20:1-21:25

What do we learn about who God or Jesus is from these chapters?

What do we learn about us as people from this?

This week, we will finish the book of John. This will leave us a week to review the Sermon on the Mount as we finish up that preaching series!
