As we enter the Advent season, we say come, Lord Jesus. Come, thou long-expected Jesus. The world waited and longed for his presence, and he did come. He lived among us, he fulfilled great promises of old, and he made a way for us to live today in hope and peace and joy and love. There is great comfort in this reality – the knowledge of Immanuel, God with us. Jesus came in the flesh to know us and heal us – he gave purpose to our longing and he brought the promise of abundant life.  

What does this mean for us now? How do the themes of Advent give us a taste of this abundant life? Throughout scripture, we see promises of abundance and fullness in Christ. Let’s spend this season reveling in what is here now and celebrating what is still to come.
