TUESDAY (11/3/20)

Read Romans 8:9-11

  • Explain verse 9b “if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ”.
  • Who is the “you” at the beginning of verses 9. Does this apply to the whole world? Just the church in Rome? Who is controlled by the Spirit?
  • Are you someone whom the Spirit of Christ is living in and is controlled by the Spirit? How do you see this at work in your life day to day?
  • The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is living inside of you if you have joined God’s family. What are you wanting to see Him do in your life today?

WEEK 4 MEMORY VERSE:
ROMANS 8:15

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

MONDAY (11/2/20)

Read Romans 8:5-8

  • How does someone move from living according to the sinful nature to living according to the Spirit?
  • How do we know what the Spirit desires? How can this be possible?
  • What does Paul mean that “mind governed by the flesh is death (v. 6)?”
  • When your mind is controlled by the Spirit, how have you seen life and peace there?

WEEK 4 MEMORY VERSE:
ROMANS 8:15

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

SUNDAY (11/1/20)

Spend some time praying and reflecting this morning around the idea of being not condemned.

Journal or write our areas where you have felt condemned in the past, perhaps areas where others have actually condemned you. Speak aloud to each area the truth that we are no longer condemned. We are welcomed and loved into an incredible family.

WEEK 3 MEMORY VERSE:
ROMANS 7:24

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

SATURDAY (10/31/20)

We are going to do something a little different today. Open your Bible app, or download a Bible app, on your phone.

Listen to Romans chapters 1-8 all the way through. This was a letter written to a specific church, but was read as a letter.

I think it helps grasp the overall scope if we listen to some larger chunks. Similar to the chunks we have been reading at Nehemiah Nights in Revelation!

Grab a piece of paper and write out things that popped out to you as you read.

WEEK 3 MEMORY VERSE:
ROMANS 7:24

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

FRIDAY (10/30/20)

Read all of Romans 7 and do the Know, Be, Do method through the chapter!

Get out a piece of paper and answer these questions:

  • KNOW – What does the text say about God?
  • BE – What does the text say about us?
  • DO – What is the text calling me to do?

Write out the whole verse that you want to stick with you throughout the day today.

WEEK 3 MEMORY VERSE:
ROMANS 7:24

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

THURSDAY (10/29/20)

Read Romans 7:24-8:4

  • In 7:25 Paul gets pretty excited. What is he thankful for?
  • How does someone become “in Christ (v. 8:1)?”
  • If you are “in Christ,” Paul explains that there is no condemnation over you, around you, for you. How does that make you feel?

Stand up and walk to the nearest mirror in your place. Say aloud as you look at yourself: I am not condemned. I am a part of God’s family. I am not condemned.

Spend some time praying and praising God for setting us free from the Law, and allowing us access into His family.

WEEK 3 MEMORY VERSE:
ROMANS 7:24

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

WEDNESDAY (10/28/20)

These are hard words in this chapter. Remember to pause and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and show you truth!

Reread Romans 7:7-25

  • What is some of the “good” that you would like to see yourself doing right now, but aren’t doing it?
  • Describe some of the war inside of you right now? In what areas of your life is the good & the evil going “toe to toe?”
  • How does this war tend to make you feel?
  • From what we’ve learned in Romans thus far, how would you answer Paul’s gut wrenching question in verse 24?
