- Take some notes on things that stand out to you
As we head into this second portion of John, we are going to revisit our friends at the Bible Project:
Spend some time in worship and prayer this morning that the message of Jesus would shine like a light in your own life and the life of our church.
If you had to condense this chapter to one sentence, write out that sentence on a separate piece of paper or in a journal.
What are the 2 things you will remember most from this chapter?
Describe the time when you believed Jesus’ words, accepted his offer of eternal life, and allowed Him to become your King/leader/boss?
Who do you know that stands condemned? List them out and spend time praying for them.
Which of the metaphors that Jesus uses in this chapter speak the most to you?
Death leading to life?
Loving your life and losing it?
Believing in the Light?
Others?
Why?
What practices keep you walking in the light versus heading in towards the darkness?
Leviticus 23:40 tells us of the Israelites waving palm branches in praise to the Lord. They were celebrating the Festival of Tabernacles—reminding them of when they lived in portable “tents” in the desert and how God provided for them.
Jesus is entering Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. God has come to tabernacle or live among them AND He would become their Passover Lamb!
Imagine that you are Mary, a close friend of Jesus. You are overwhelmed at the significance of Jesus. Her brother had just been raised from the dead.
As you look around your mental room or house, what would you offer to Jesus as your most expensive offering?
How can you put into perspective the comments of those who would scoff at your offering as ridiculous?
