Tuesday 6/7

  • Read Matthew 5:3

Where is your spirit poor today? Are you unkind? Do you gossip? Are you unforgiving? Are you arrogant? In what area do you need to humbly ask the Spirit for help?

  • Why do you think God blesses us when we realize these things about ourselves?
  • What do you think it means to receive the Kingdom of Heaven?

Memorization verse:

  • Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Monday 6/6

  • Read Matthew 5:1-2

The disciples gather around Jesus, and He begins to teach them. I can almost see their anticipation. Expectantly they look and listen.

  • What is the posture of your heart today? Listening as a duty? Expectantly listening? Bored?
  • What do you think has contributed to that heart posture?
  • In what ways do you best connect with God?

We are going to work to memorize a section of the sermon on the mount together this summer:

  • Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
