Monday (7/5/21) Week 5, Day 1

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Matthew 26:36 – 39 (NIV)

Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Job 2:7 – 10 (NIV)

So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.

His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!”

He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”

In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

Sunday (7/4/21)

Let’s spend this morning praying, listening to some worship music, and spending time in the Father’s arms.

Saturday (7/3/21)

Take time throughout the day to pray through each line of the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil (the evil one)

For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen.

Friday (7/2/21) Week 4, Day 5

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: James 1:2 – 5 (NIV)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Matthew 26:50b – 53 (NIV)

Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?”

Thursday (7/1/21) Week 4, Day 4

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Psalm 69:1 – 3, 15 – 16 (NIV)

Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.

I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold.

I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me.

I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched.

My eyes fail, looking for my God.

Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.

Answer me, LORD, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me.

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: John 21:17 – 19 (NIV)

The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”

Wednesday (6/30/21) Week 4, Day 3

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Romans 11:33 – 36 (NIV)

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!

How unsearchable his judgments,

and his paths beyond tracing out!

“Who has known the mind of the Lord?

Or who has been his counselor?”

“Who has ever given to God,

that God should repay them?”

For from him and through him and for him are all things.

To him be the glory forever! Amen.

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Job 42:1 – 6 (NIV)

Then Job replied to the LORD:

“I know that you can do all things;

no plan of yours can be thwarted.

You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?’

Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,

things too wonderful for me to know.

You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;

I will question you,

and you shall answer me.’

My ears had heard of you

but now my eyes have seen you.

Therefore I despise myself

and repent in dust and ashes.” (NIV 1984)

Tuesday (6/29/21) Week 4, Day 2

MORNING/MIDDAY OFFICE

  • Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:7 – 11 (NIV)

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined — and everyone undergoes discipline — then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

MIDDAY/EVENING OFFICE

  • Silence, Stillness, and Centering before God (2 minutes)
  • Scripture Reading: Genesis 22:9 – 12 (NIV)

When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”
